Bonham, TX--The Fannin County Sheriff's office tells KXII two people are dead after a plane crash just north of Bonham Saturday morning. Texas DPS says 59-year old Linda Wingo, of Leonard, TX and 57-year old William Pearson died at the scene.

According to a spokesperson for the F.A.A. the hand-built aircraft took off from Jones Field Airport in Bonham around 8:00 Saturday morning. The F.A.A. tells KXII witnesses reported that the engine had died shortly after take off and the pilot had to restart it at least once. The plane crashed behind a home on Highway 78 North. A Fannin County man says he had just started his morning routine when the plane fell out of the sky across the street from his home.

"This morning I let my dogs out and I heard this motor fire up right over the house. And the airplane motor died and then fired back up and then died again. I ran out front to see...You could tell it had distress. I didn't see where it landed. One minute later I could see where the smoke was here and I ran over here and the cab was fully engulfed and I couldn't get the pilot out and then I realized there was two people in the plane so other than that there wasn't much I could do," said Kyle Smith, a Fannin County resident who lives near the crash site.

The NTSB and local authorities are investigating the crash to determine an official cause.
