ATOKA, Okla. -- A former high school football coach has been
found not guilty of assault and battery of a student.

Craig Viefhaus was accused of putting a 16-year-old Atoka High School football player in a choke hold until the student passed out.

But witnesses testified the student lunged at and tackled Viefhaus after the coach told him to stop pinching him. The witnesses also said he put the student in the choke hold in self-defense and only for a few seconds.

Viefhaus was dismissed as coach after the incident but remains as a teacher at Atoka High School.

It's sad when teachers are disciplined before the case is even investagated. Atoka should be embarrassed
