KINGSTON, OK – Dozen local residents picketed the grand opening of a sexually oriented business on the east side of Kingston on Wednesday night.

Signs reading things like “Just because it’s legal, doesn’t make it right” and “Take your trash back to Dallas, we don’t want it here” waved outside, along Highway 70, as the “Surfin' Sand Gentleman’s Club” celebrated its grand opening.

Club managers say the bar part of the establishment has been open for about a year, but now they're trying to bolster business by being one of the only clubs in the area to add topless dancers.

Picketers say they don't think the gentleman’s club will bring anything good into the area.

"We're just here because we disagree with the strip club opening in such a family oriented community. We just think it doesn't represent the values of most of the citizens here,” Kylie Green, one of the protesters, said.

Club managers say there is nothing wrong with their business and they are generating new jobs for the area.

"Its good for the community. I’ve got 50 jobs in there that I just put in, so that's bigger than some places around here,” Jeff Morgan the club manager said.
