Ardmore, OK--An Ardmore man is behind bars after police said he attempted to run an Ardmore police officer over in a traffic stop gone wrong this weekend.
Officials said Jonathan Johnson is in the Carter County jail Sunday evening after he was arrested this weekend on multiple charges including assault on an officer. Johnson was arrested Sunday night after he attempted to smash the officer, that was questioning him, between two cars while he and another man fled the scene.

It happened in the 600 block of A Street after Ardmore Police received a call about two men fighting in front of a house in that area. According to Ardmore police they spotted a suspicious vehicle that Johnson and another man were waiting in parked on the side of the road. When police approached and began questioning him, that's when police say Johnson sped away. Ardmore police say the brief pursuit ended when Johnson crashed his car in another residential area a few miles away.

Johnson will appear before the judge at the Carter County Courthouse on Monday.
