SHERMAN, TX -- Across the nation thousands of current and former military servicemen and women were served free meals Monday as a small token of thanks for their service.

From 5 to 9 pm Monday, the Golden Corral in Sherman served hundreds of veterans free thank you dinners.

It's all part of Golden Corral's 9th annual Military Appreciation Monday.

The free dinner is a special "thank you tribute" to any person who has ever served in the United States Military.

Any veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, were invited to tonight's dinner.

They were even served by area boy scouts.

"It's just a good thing to do to make sure that the people that have served in the military know that they're not forgotten and we do care about them," said Manager Patricia Beech.

To date, Golden Corral restaurants have provided over 2.2 million free meals, and contributed over $3.3 million to the Disabled American Veterans organization.
