GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- It's been under construction for more than 18 months. Now the Highway 289 Extension is just days away from opening to traffic.
Grayson County Commissioner Gene Short says the extension is set to open around the first of December. He plans on meeting Wednesday with Pottsboro leaders to plan the ribbon cutting ceremony.
While it's taken a little longer than planned, Short says the $60 million project has come in under budget.
Once the construction is complete, FM 120 north of the new Highway 289 intersection will be renamed State Highway 289.
