Grayson County Set For Its First H1N1 Vaccine Dispensing Site
The Grayson County Health Department will provide injectable H1N1 vaccine for high risk target groups on Monday and Tuesday in Sherman and Denison.

The Grayson County Health Department will provide injectable H1N1 vaccine for the following target groups: pregnant women, persons who live with or provide care for infants younger than 6 months of age, health-care personnel and emergency services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material, children aged 6 months – 4 years, and adolescents aged 5 – 18 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza complications.

WHEN: Monday & Tuesday, Nov. 23-24, 2009, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Supplies are limited and clients will be vaccinated on a first-come, first-serve basis.)

WHERE:Grayson County Health Department , 515 North Walnut, Sherman, Texas 75090

DETAILS: Kevin Stacks, M.D., Medical Authority and Grayson County Health Authority specified that this shipment be used for these target groups. Medical conditions that confer a higher risk for influenza-related complications include chronic pulmonary (including asthma), cardiovascular (except hypertension), renal, hepatic, cognitive, neurological/neuromuscular, hematological, or metabolic disorders (including diabetes mellitus) and immunosuppression (including immunosuppression caused by medications or by HIV). There is no cost for the vaccine.

As more vaccine becomes available to the Grayson County Health Department additional vaccine dispensing sites will be announced.
