DICKSON, Okla. -- This morning’s ride to school caused a scare for some Dickson middle school students.

The bus was heading west down Highway 70 when, for some unknown reason, a Chevy Trailblazer rammed it from behind near Dogwood Road.

The driver of the SUV, Rebecca Matchen, 31, of Madill, was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital with head injuries in serious condition.

Thirty-three students were on board the bus. Five were taken to Mercy Memorial where they were treated and released.

"The kids were shaken up, but when we got on scene we calmed them down and made them comfortable," said OHP Trooper Casey Hall.

Troopers say the bus driver, Sherri Blancett, did an excellent job of maintaining control. If she hadn't, the bus could have flipped over in the ditch.

RE: A teacher- I agree with you, but there are only four things that we prohibit on commenting: (vulgarity, libel, spamming, and accusations the station is not reporting). I know some are dreadful, but we try as much as possible not to discriminate. Please continue to use these to teach your students.

I've been using these comments in my class, as examples of how not to write. Several of the students from my school had posted with terrible grammar and spelling I decided something had to be done. I deleted names and locations and used their posts as well as others as examples of what not to do. Today, I discovered several of my kiddos have posted on here...both correctly (to show me that there are people who know their conventions) and incorrectly (because they think they are funny). The majority of the lesson was well received, as the students were as shocked as I was. I find it sad that people consistently write as badly as they do. I would think that KXII would not post those comments which are incomprehensible since we do have to "submit your comment for approval."

Hmm? The previous posters can't be serious... or can they? What a sad state of affairs, if this is the average product of Texoma area schools. Pray!!

i think that the accident was bad b/c there kids on there and my cousins ride that bus, the bus was 2 bus stops away from picking them up when it wrecked, and another bus did not pick them up until like 8:00.
