The Denison ISD and the city's water plant were closed Tuesday due to the water situation caused by last night's storms, but officials say the water is back on in Denison.
Public works officials say around 80% of city water customers had restored water pressute this morning. Full production was restores around 3 p.m. Tuesday.
The City of Denison Water Plant has issued an emergency water shortage notice.
The water plant experienced a power failure around 9 o'clock last night, which prevents treatment or transport of water to the city.
That power failure came due to a lighting strike at the plant during Monday night's storm.
""We were very close. Ii told the council members that they probably were going to run out of water. We thought we'd be out of water by 5:30 or 6 this morning, but fortunately I guess the use was a little low, so we were able to survive," said Denison city manager Larry Cruise.
