Twister Protection in Storm Shelter Loans

5-5-04 - The threat of tornadoes could be lessened for some in Texoma, as the USDA offers special loans for storm shelters.

The program in Oklahoma and Texas is aimed at low-income residents earning less than half the average income in their county. An applicant must live in their own home, and the family must reside in an eligible rural community.

Here's how it works - the federal loans will proved 100% financing for shelters at an interest rate of one percent for a twenty year loan. You can call the USDA rural development office for more information. The number for Oklahoma is (405) 742-1070 and in Texas its (972) 542-0081.
