5-9-04- A snake was the culprit in a Sunday night fire at a TXU power substation in Grayson County. The fire caused a service interruption for customers in several Fannin and Grayson county communities.

The fire started at the substation on Highway 69 near Whitewright about 9:45 p.m. A TXU spokesperson says the fire was caused by a snake that slithered into the substation and tripped an electrical circuit.

Firefighters had the fire out shortly after 10:00 p.m. TXU says power was restored to most customers about ten minutes later.
