Fantasy Card Games Worry Parents

5-14-04 - A popular card game among some local teenagers is a far cry from the deck of cards most people grew up with. Known as “Magic – The Gathering”, the fantasy game of life and death features cards complete with demonic creatures and magical figures. But a set of parents in Durant worry that their child is playing the games at school, often during class breaks. They say the themes of death and fighting send the wrong message to today’s youth.

First News spoke with the high school principal and he says he's never seen the cards on school grounds before. He says if it does become an issue the school could decide to ban them.
