DAVIS, Okla. (AP) - The former mayor of a south Oklahoma town is being sentenced to community service for illegally taking money from a store where he worked.

Former Davis Mayor Michael Summers was given a three year deferred sentence and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service for obtaining money by false pretenses.

Summers was accused of adding about $3,000 to his debit card at a Staples store in Ardmore where he was store manager.

Summers was charged in January and resigned as mayor of Davis in April.

Why doesn't KXII read the comments made on the seems as though you only want to air the "bad stuff". Let everyone out there know of these positive comments as well, after all, you are part of the problem with the negative comments. As far as I know, no viewer comment has ever made it on the air.

Wow... we have gone from this being a small town problem, to an employment problem, to a hell and brimstone problem, to now an OKIE problem??? I must have missed the train??? If people really knew how much this man does not just for people who can vote, but for kids!!! He takes care of all of the community, not just the white collar people! 100 hourse of community service is nothing... He does that in a normal couple of weeks!!! We love you michael!!! Your accounting man!!!

It must be in the Okie water because no one in their right mind would only bellyache about him being mayor. This was between him and his former employer. You get paid nothing for being a mayor only headaches. I praise him for handling the mayor position that nobody wanted and Okies are known for bellyaching like you've shown here in your comments.

Being a mayor had nothing to do with the crime so it must have been re-election time for the DA. The DA must be proud. No solid evidence for the true crime but look what he did for small town politics were nothing was wrong.

He will run and he will be re-elected to office again! Davis needs someone with his forward thinking and his ability to talk to people open and honestly. This was nothing more than bad politics and the DA should be ashamed that he used this to cover his own issues.

You can SAY what you will do but you never know what you will ACTUALLY DO until it happens to you. How can you go to trial when every lawyer says take a plea? Spend 20,000 to prove you didn't take 3,000

if he was POOP, BLACK, and a REGULAR PERSON he would have went to prison... since he is a POLITICIAN (liar), WHITE and RICH he is going to serve 100 hours of community service. This country has no direction!

Angel, You're really no Angel. Let's play reality. If you and I were sent to prison, it would be for shooting someone when we took the $3000 from the store. Get a life and get real. YOU KNOW HE DIDN'T DO IT AND THATS ALL THAT CAN BE SAID WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. End of story.

If you know he was so guilty, why didn't you go to the D.A. instead of just posting comments on a website? Chicken or were you jealous? The green-eyed monster is usually the reason negative comments are made about someone, whether they be truths or lies. YOU CAN DENY IT ALL YOU WANT BUT SHOULD WE BELIVE YOU AND NOT HIM?
