Ardmore, OK--Last week Nancy McAdams noticed something a little strange. The water coming out the faucet in her Ardmore home was a yellowish brown color. Concerned for her kids that the water may be unsafe to drink, she quickly called her water provider.
She says they fixed the problem but only for a little while, a few days later it returned.
That's when the family turned to drinking bottled water.
She says she was told by the Southern Oklahoma Water Company that despite the water turning yellow for a second time, that it was perfectly safe.
What worried the family even more were letters that they received with their monthly water bill.
According to the letter the S.O.W.C was required to inform their customers that their water system had recently violated drinking water standards.
According to the statement the water company had conducted a test that indicated above normal levels of certain chemicals. None of which according to the statement pose as any immediate threat but if consumed over a long period of time could lead to certain health problems.
S.O.W.C manager Charlie Abbe says the yellow water could be caused by several different factors, none of which are dangerous.
In phone conversation with First News Abbe said it could have been a number of different things, all equally harmless. ...
The family says whatever the problem actually was, they hope it won't be returning anytime soon.
