5-21-04 - Cardinal Glass fired up their massive furnace today – signifying that they’re nearly ready for business. The commercial glass manufacturer also began training 200 employees in anticipation of full operation in the next two weeks.

Economic Development Director Tommy Kramer calls the plant the largest one-time investment in the city's history. He says for a city the size of Durant to land a business like Cardinal Glass is a dream come true.

In the coming months, Cardinal Glass will employ 265 people and produce 600 tons of glass a day – 7 days a week. The payroll alone will generate over $11 million.

There will be another career fair on May 26th at Kiamichi Technology Center to fill the remaining 65 people.
