Teenager Raped in Ardmore Apartment

5-23-04- Ardmore police are investigating the rape of a 16 year old girl at the Willowbrook Apartments early Sunday morning. 27 year old Anthony Reed is in the Carter County Jail charged with first degree rape in the crime.

Police continue to investigate the incident and will not release many details, since the investigation is ongoing. The teenage victim was in a friend's apartment when the alleged rape occured sometime after midnight Sunday.

Police believe Reed knew the suspect, but the two were not dating. They also say the suspect made advances toward the girl sometime Saturday night.

A hospital exam showed the victim might have been sexually assaulted.

Reed is in the Carter County Jail charged with first degree rape. He will be officially charged at an arraignment Monday afternoon.
