Church Burns One Night After Break-in

05-25-04 - Fire broke out at The People’s Holiness Church in Bokchito Monday night. The State Fire Marshall investigated the site Tuesday morning and said a faulty electrical wire caused the blaze.

The call came in at 7:00pm and it took firefighters thirty minutes to get the flames under control. The church, a staple in the community for more than fifty years, suffered $25,000 to $30,000 in damages.

This is the second incident at the church in 24 hours. On Sunday night, a thief broke into the small church on Kelly Street and stole a bag of clothes that were meant for charity.
