CELINA, Tex. -- One person was injured when an 80,000-gallon pressurized powdered iron ore tank ruptured early morning. The explosion ripped a hole through the roof at the General Chemical Plant, formerly Fini, on North Business Highway 289 around 6:40 Tuesday morning.
According to Celina Fire Department, the injured worker was hit by flying red iron dust and debris. The ore is used to purify water for processing at the plant.
The person was taken to Parkland Hospital for further observation.
Both fire and plant officials are investigating the cause of the accident.
