Hit and Run: Driver Calls for A Getaway Car

05-26-04 - Several local law enforcement agencies have joined forces to search for a driver involved in a hit and run accident in Sherman Wednesday morning.
Police say the suspect rear-ended a car slowing down to turn on highway 56. After the accident, he used a bystander’s cell phone to call a friend. Just minutes later, a white station wagon pulled up and the man removed bags from his wrecked vehicle and put them into the station wagon. It sped away, heading eastbound.
Before police got to the scene, another car pulled up. The suspect got in and they drove away, heading west. Police and Grayson County deputies are looking for a heavy set while man with long hair. He was last seen in red mercury. He is wanted for felony failure to stop and render aide. The other driver involved in the accident was taken to Wilson N. Jones with neck injuries. Southmayd police have a lead; they traced the cell phone call to a home within their city limits.
