BROKEN BOW, Okla. (AP) - An opinion from Attorney General Drew Edmondson effectively shuts down companies that rent cabins to tourists - unless they're supervised by a licensed real estate broker.

One owner of a cabin rental company in Broken Bow says they will ask the Legislature for a new state law allowing them to continue operating as they have for years.

The issue began when the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission notified more than a dozen rental companies in the Broken Bow area they were under investigation. Commission director Anne Woody says a person must be licensed in order to rent cabins to tourists.

Edmonson's opinion that was issued Wednesday agreed.

McCurtain County Getaways co-owner Michelle Finch says rental owners will ask lawmakers to approve a new law allowing them to continue conducting business as they have in the past.
