OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - State prison officials say convicted killer Randolph Franklin Dial died this morning in the infirmary at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.

Prison spokeswoman Margaret Sexton says the 62-year-old Dial had been in the infirmary for about two weeks and died at 6:50 this morning. The official cause of death wasn't released.

Dial spent more than a decade on the run after escaping the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite in 1994 and taking Bobbi Parker - the wife of the prison's deputy warden- with him.

The two were found in April 2005 in Campti, Texas.

Dial pleaded no contest last December to an escape charge and said at the time his heart was failing and that doctors had given him a year to live.

He said previously he forced Parker to go with him and kept her as a hostage.

Parker has not been charged.

11 years as a hostage, you con't convince me that at some point in 11 years she couldn't have escaped. Press charges against her. This is an injustice to all.

Glad he died in prison and not a free man. If you want to know whether she was "forced" to go with him, ask the people who were employed at the prison when he "escaped" and took her with him. Why she was not charged is beyond me.
