MARIETTA, Okla. -- The mayor of Marietta says he has plans to put his town on the map.

Mayor Scott Birdsall wants to create a business development committee to look at ways to expand industry, parks and recreation, festivals, and community involvement.

A measure to put the plan into action was tabled at Monday night's council meeting for further study.

The mayor says Marietta is the perfect place for growth, but the city hasn't taken advantage of growth opportunities.

Marietta has had plenty of opportunity in the past to expand, but the City is ran by an older generation not willing to open the gates to franchises or new opportunity. I wish this mayor luck, he will need it.
