GRAYSON CO., TX – A few weeks ago a little girl was selling her own toys on E-Bay to help an elderly Whitewright woman who’s home needs extensive repairs. Now we caught up with that woman and the organization working to help her.

At 70 years old, Pauline Gabriel struggles to have some of the most basic living conditions. She has gaping holes in her roof, mold on the ceiling, deteriorating floors, a slanted kitchen sink and broken windows covered up with plywood and plastic.

So when a new non-profit organization came knocking on her door, offering to help fix her home, Pauline knew her prayers had been answered.

"Oh it makes me feel wonderful; it lets me know that people care," said Pauline.

The group is called Project CrossWalk, and their goal is to help people who need work done on their home but can’t afford it or are not able to do it themselves.

"We want to involve the communities, we know there are a lot of churches around town that maybe are looking to do this stuff or have the funds necessary but don't know who's out there," said Chad Cole, one of the Directors of Project CrossWalk.

Chad said Pauline's house is one of the worst cases they've taken on so far, and will take a lot of man power and donations to get it in good living condition. Chad said they not only need volunteers to physically do the work on the house, but the funds to purchase the supplies.

"She's going to need a lot of material on the roof, a lot of material inside the house to replace sheetrock and flooring and things like that. That all costs money so we look for organizations or individuals who can donate and help pay for those things," said Cole.

But for Pauline and her family, for now they take it in stride as they make do in the house her grandparents built in the early 1900's.

"It gets hard sometimes but we just do the best we can, do the best we can with what we got," said Pauline.

Chad said he’s happy to help Pauline and hopes that through Project CrossWalk they can make her life a little better and help more people like her.

"If you were just to meet her or have a phone conversation you would never know the condition she's in, she is just a lovely lady who enjoys life and is thankful for what she has and unfortunately a lot of us would look at it and go it's not much,” said Paul.
