President Pays Tribute

05-31-04 - (Arlington, Virginia-AP) President Bush has been speaking today of the sacrifice and courage of the nation's service members and the importance of each life given to "serve the cause of peace." He spoke to veterans and their families at Arlington National Cemetery, after laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Today is the 136th observance of Memorial Day at the Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony honors the service and sacrifice of American members of the military.

Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry began his Memorial Day with a trip to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington. He visited along with the family of a Massachusetts Vietnam veteran who died from a combat-related injury years after the war and whose name will be unveiled on the monument later today.
