Thursday is a Weather Alert Day. Isolated severe storms are expected. A few could produce damaging winds or hail. The threat time is 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Stay with News 12 and the Weather Authority for the latest.
GAINESVILLE -- KXII has the latest out of Gainesville and Cooke County.
The east side of town has been evacuated to Wylie Methodist Church. The area along Pecan Creek is also being evacuated.
Interstate 35 and Highway 82 reopened around 11:30 this morning.
No reports of injuries or fatalities.
The Bible Baptist Church just off Grand Street is located about 300 yards away from the flooded creek. Inside the church building church officials say they had more than four inches of water inside the building, and they had been working since 8 this morning to get the water out. They it has been several years since they had seen waters this high.
Gainesville officials say they are even getting help from Dallas Fire and Rescue to try and help get the last few people who are still stranded on roof tops.
No word on injuries at this time.
If you would like to help out the flood victims in Cooke County, the American Red Cross is taking donations at 1608 West Highway 82 in Gainesville. You can reach them at 940-665-5591. They will be providing food for all volunteers and victims on Saturday.
