SHERMAN, TX--In a city of just over 4,000, the loss of a young spirit can take a toll on an entire community. In Whitesboro, friends and family members gathered to support the Golden family, Sunday.

"The other night, she came into my bedroom, gave me a hug, gave me kiss, and a few hours later, she was gone," Larry Golden said.

16-year-old Kendall Golden, was one of three passengers in a single car accident early Sunday morning.

An off duty officer reported the accident just after midnight.

Sgt. Stephen Dean with the Sherman P.D. said, "The car was traveling apparently at a high rate of speed, westbound on 82, just prior to the new 289, for an unknown reason at this point, the vehicle left the roadway. Rolled several times, and came to rest at the eastbound lane of 82."

18-year-old, Dale Everett Thomas, of Sherman, was driving a 2007 Ford Focus. Another 16-year-old male was also in the back seat. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim was taken to Texoma Medical Center, but was transported to Parkland in Dallas, Sunday, where he received surgery on his hand. Kendall Golden was also taken to TMC where she died, early Sunday morning. At 8:33pm Saturday night, Thomas's My Space status said he was "about to go party."

Larry Golden says his daughter was heading home after a night out with friends. He says Kendall was very bright and had already completed several classes at Grayson County College. She hoped to go to cosmetology school and later study physical therapy.

The Critical Accident Investigation Team of the Sherman Police department is currently looking into all the details from the accident scene. At this time all they can say is that speed definitely played a role.
