Two Jurors Dismissed In Nichols Trial

06-02-04 - (McAlester-AP) -- Two jurors in Terry Nichols' trial have been dismissed by the judge today and have been replaced by the last two remaining alternate jurors.
The trial is in the sentencing phase. The jury convicted Nichols
last week of 161 counts of first-degree murder in the Oklahoma City
bombing. Now they're considering whether Nichols should be executed or given a sentence of life in prison.
Judge Steven Taylor has not explained what the two jurors did
wrong. But he strongly told the rest of the panel not to discuss
the case outside of regular jury deliberations. After a one-hour closed meeting with prosecution and defense attorneys, Taylor told jurors not to discuss sentencing or allow anyone to discuss it with them.
The jurors dismissed were a man and a woman. The man was the
foreman. The composition of the jury remains six men and six women. The trial began with 12 jurors and six alternates.
