Head-on Accident in Sherman Kills 2

6-2-04 - A head-on accident in Sherman involving four cars left two people dead, and stopped traffic on highway 82 Wednesday. It happened around 2pm west of FM 1417, moments after someone called police warning them that a driver was heading the wrong way.

Rebecca Dalene Knight, 32, of Sadler was killed when the Kia Rio was hit head-on by a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Michael Wayne Crawford of Nashville, Arkansas. Crawford also died int he accident.

Two other vehicles were involved - a Ford Ranger from Edmond towing a meat smoker and a Ford Crew Cab pickup towing a boat from Ft Worth. Police are still gathering information on the condition of those drivers.

A 12 year old boy riding with Knight suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police received a call at 1:47pm that a the Cavalier was heading the wrong way on highway 82 east. Moments later, another call reported the accident, involving a similar car.
