BONHAM, Tex. -- Fire officials in Bonham say they are not investigating the cause of the fire that destroyed three businesses on the town’s downtown square earlier this month.
Child's Carpeting has told the city that they do not want to investigate the cause of the fire and want to just pay the claim with their insurance company.
The fire started around 11 o'clock the night of May 30th at the Child's Flooring America store and quickly spread to neighboring businesses Allstate Insurance and Bewley's Five & Dime.
Fire Marshall Bruce Caylor says crews tore down the unsteady west wall on Monday and that the department does not plan on looking into what caused the fire because of costs.
They do believe the fire began at the back of the building next to electrical wires.
