6-3-04 - Sherman's newest police officer is getting all four of his feet wet this week. Oskar, a German Shepard, is will hit the streets in the next few days as a K-9 patrol dog. The 22-month old dog was purchased thanks to the generosity of Sherman citizens, including students at Dillingham Intermediate School. It costs about $10,000 to purchase and train a dog like Oskar.

He’s capable of searching for drugs and if necessary, protecting his assigned officer.

Oskar shouldl be on patrol in about ten days.
