ARDMORE, Okla. -- Changes at Ardmore's Industrial Park have been underway for some time. Now development officials are looking at another boost to the number of jobs and the local economy.
The industrial airpark has undergone several changes over the last few years. Now with a $1 million grant, the City of Ardmore is expecting even more money for the area.
After months of looking to improve the airpark, Ardmore Development Authority president Wes Stucky and the Southern Oklahoma Development Authority teamed up and found the grant that could bring over $6 million to the area and possibly hundreds of jobs.
The money will go towards road improvements on the north side of the airpark and open up over 1,000 acres for expansion.
Stucky says that with this road, companies can have an idea of what the ADA can do for the area and decide to call Ardmore home.
"There’s a lot of difference between having a plan for a road and having a road, and until then a company may have trouble seeing it," Stucky said.
A plan is in effect to start on the road by mid-August and hopefully have things wrapped up within four months.
