Ray Charles Dies at 73

(Beverly Hills, California-AP) -- Actor Clint Eastwood says the
entertainment world will miss Ray Charles, who died today at age
73. The Grammy-award winning singer and piano player's hits spanned
musical styles and generations.

Charles died of acute liver disease at his Beverly Hills home. His last public appearance was in April, when the city of Los Angeles designated his studio a historic landmark.

Eastwood filmed Charles extensively for a segment in the 2003
documentary "The Blues." He says Charles was "admired both as a
friend and as an artist."

Performer Bruce Hornsby says at another star-studded event last
year attended by Charles, "Everyone else was playing for second."
Charles' hits include, "Hit the Road Jack," "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "Georgia on My Mind."
