A home that floats

PRESTON PENINSULA, Tex. -- One family isn't letting the rising lake waters ruin their home. The Park family took Styrofoam normally used to float boat docks and installed the blocks under their double-wide mobile home at Lighthouse Marina.

As the water rises, the house rises along with it. The foam can withstand about 100,000 pounds and the home weighs about 50,000.

"It’s the same principle as a boat dock, if it floats, same foam, this is just a little bit heavier," said the home’s owner, Ricky Park.

The family isn't living in the home right now, but will move back in once the water recedes.

All I have to say is I have the smartest Daddy in th whole word!!! He always has been one who think ahead and plans things out thinking of what will happen in the furture. I couldn't ask for a better family or smarter daddy then the one I have. I love you daddy... this is his and my mothers retirement home. (which have been married for 35 years home!) and they determend not to let anything come in between his and my mommy's (Brenda Park) dream home of being on the lake. They have worked so hard to get it where it is now. I have you say that if it wasn't for friends and family that help in this emergengy matter my parents would be devesteasted right now... You really find out who your true friends are when you are in a spot that time is an issue.. Thank you to EVRERYONE the helps my Daddy..... I love him so much and he is the most kindest and most understandering person I have ever met in my life...DADDY I LOVE YOU SO MUCH... YOU ARE THE GREATESTEST. Your one and daughter (Chrissy)
