Under Attack; More Contractors Killed in Iraq

Iraq Reconstruction

06-15-04 - (Baghdad, Iraq-AP) More contractors have come under attack in Iraq. A US commander says insurgents fired on a three-vehicle convoy of contractors working for the US led coalition, killing some of them. No word on how many.

Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt says gunmen fired from a highway overpass west of Baghdad, disabling two of the vehicles. Kimmitt says the third vehicle was hit by small arms fire, but made it safely to a coalition base.

He describes the surviving contractors as "shaken-up." He didn't give the nationalities of the victims.
