DENISON -- The City of Denison is set to shoot off fireworks at Munson Stadium later tonight if the rain holds off. The band Spur 503 was out on the turf this afternoon setting up for the big show. They're scheduled to take the stage at 7:30. Gates open at 7.

Kevin Parker says he and his family enjoy the celebration every Fourth of July, and he hopes to see the show again tonight.

"The fireworks are one thing you got to have because it's Fourth of July, the one day of the year you’re allowed to have fireworks. So yeah I think it would be really bad if it didn’t happen…We really need them," says Parker.

Mayor Robert Brady will give a speech, and local Boy Scouts are scheduled to say the pledge before the big event begins.

Whoevermade the decision to start the fireworks before the sky was even dark (9:07PM)ruined everything! The sky was still blue when they started....it could have been so much better if they would have wiated until 9:30PM as it was advertised on TV!
