Suspect Confesses to Durant Assault After Arkansas Murders
06-17-04 - A Broken Bow man who is in custody for committing a double murder this week also confessed to the sexual assault of a Durant store clerk. Authorities say Mickey David Thomas matched their composite sketch of a suspect who tied up a Durant woman and sexually assaulted her last Monday.
Thomas was arrested in Idabel, Oklahoma after a five hour manhunt and chase. Authorities say a witness saw Thomas leaving a grave marker business store in DeQueen, Arkansas. Inside, two women had been shot in the head. Thomas was seen driving away in a gold Mustang, the same car described leaving the scene in Durant.
Durant police went to Idabel on Tuesday and interviewed Thomas in jail. They say he confessed to the crime in Durant.
