BONHAM, TX--Fannin County's Food Pantries met today, for a Hunger Summit.
The meeting was all about finding better ways to get food to those who need it the most.
The North Texas Food Bank serves those in need all across Texoma.
"We cover a 13 county area all the way up to the red river, including Fannin County," said Paul Wunderlich of the North Texas Food Bank.
The food Bank receives bulk donations then uses Partner groups to distribute the food.
"Fannin County Food Ministries, the Fannin County Pantry, and the Manna House, are the agencies that work with us to get the food to the people who need it," says Wunderlich.
Due to an ever increasing need for food, The Food Bank met with the Agencies in Bonham this morning to help streamline the process, and figure out how to get more food, to more people.
Pastor Adam Barker says that the poor economy has led to an increase in people looking for help.
"Every day, we see more new families, the way the economics are right now, we have people who have lost their jobs, people who have been laid off," said Barker.
Paul Wunderlich says the down economy is changing the profile of those seeking aid, and that means Food pantries will have to adapt as well.
"We learned recently through a nationwide hunger study, that people working in the home has declined, so where we were feeding the working poor, now we are feeding the unemployed," said Wunderlich.
