6-17-04 - Highway 199 between Ardmore and Dickson will expand to four & five lanes in the future, but it will mean some homes and businesses will have to move. The decision by the state to add lanes from Mary Niblack road to Dickson high school is due to high traffic on the road – something they hope to alleviate with more lanes.

Along that eight mile stretch sit several homes and businesses that would be dangerously close to the highway when it expands. State law will require those buildings to be moved at least 150 feet away from the road.

The expansion probably won’t begin for another two years. ODOT will hold a meeting on June 29 in Dickson to make sure everyone knows exactly what will happen.
