6-22-04 - It was payday for 9 Grayson County charities, thanks to the Texoma Charity Golf Classic. The annual event played in late April raised more than $47,000.

Organizations like the Boys and Girls Club took home checks ranging from $1,000 to $12,000. The money is used throughout the area for causes such as cancer research, and helping battered women and disadvantaged kids.

But sponsors hope to double the amount raised next year. The TCGC will combine with another charity golf tournament called Winners For Life. That tournament began this year and brought several celebrities to Grayson County to take part.
