SHERMAN -- The American Red Cross in Sherman is receiving multiple calls of homes with repeat flooding.

Some homes in Sherman have flooded up to six times since late June. Volunteers say it's very difficult for homeowners to start the clean up process with the continual rain.

They say some people are becoming discouraged because they are also facing housing shortages in Sherman and Gainesville.

Red Cross Disaster Relief director Charles Blake says, "Water just keeps coming in. They attempt to clean up and get their lives back to some type of normal pattern, and it just keeps flooding."

Red Cross volunteers say they have had over 470 cases filed, and they are in desperate need of monetary donations and volunteers.

If you want to donate or volunteer, call the Red Cross in Sherman/Denison at 903-465-1330.
