Potter-mania hits Texoma

SHERMAN -- The Harry Potter series, possibly the biggest name in modern fiction ever, is coming to an end. The seventh and final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be released at 12:01 a.m, and our Ryan Loyd is out pinpointing the Potter parties around Texoma.

It's just a few of hours until you can get your hands on the final Harry Potter book.

To get your copy, you have to have a voucher at Books-A-Million to get it tonight.

All day long, people are expected to show up at stores across the area.

Even some book store employees are getting in on the action and getting into character. Books-A-Million will be selling copies left and right tonight, but right now the books aren't even here.

The shipment is expected later on today, making the hype even more exciting.

"Everyone’s asking, you know anything about it. Scholastic is so tight-lipped. ‘Are you going to have enough copies?’ ‘Are you pre-selling vochers for the book?’ Of course we are," says Books-A-Million general manager Leeann McCabe.

Many people are even signing a petition to persuade author J.K. Rowling to write more Harry Potter books.

There will be many parties going on throughout the area Friday night: Hastings' party starts at 8, Books-A-Million at 9, and Waldenbooks at 9:30, so there are plenty of chances to get in on the fun.

Also in Sherman, it's the Grand Hallows Ball!

Waldenbooks is hosting its big party at Midway Mall at 9:30 tonight! You are invited to come dressed as your favorite character from the books or formal ballroom attire.

There will be plenty of wizardly activities, games, costume contests, and giveaways!

At Walden Books, you can reserve your copy now to guarantee a book. If you don't reserve, you can still purchase the book tonight while supplies last.

At Hastings, it's first come, first served.

At Books-A-Million, once more, you must have a voucher.

At the stroke of midnight, you can purchase your own copy of the latest and final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
