Plane Crashes into Lake Texoma
07-04-04 – A plane crash near the Cedar Mills Marina leaves a pilot and his son shaken, but not seriously hurt. Authorities say the single engine; two-seater plane went down in Lake Texoma at 10am Sunday. The plane went down in the water just seconds after taking off from the Cedar Mills Marina Airstrip, near Whitesboro.
The two occupants of the plane were able to get out of the submerged aircraft and swim to safety. The men suffered scrapes and bruises, but no serious injuries.
Divers with the Whitesboro Police Department were able to locate the plane and pull it from the water. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash. A loss of power may have played a role in the plane going down.
