ARDMORE, Okla. – A man behind bars in Carter County is now facing even more charges after failing to register as a sex offender. Ardmore police say Jessie Sherman, 21, failed to register as an offender when he was living it the 700 block of Elm Street, just blocks from Charles Evans Elementary School.

Sherman has been in the Carter County Jail since March, but police found out he hadn’t registered after doing a random background check.

"It’s a serious crime. We take it seriously, there’s a law to register. If they don’t, we will arrest them." said Lt. Eric Hamblin of the Ardmore Police Department.

Sherman is already facing other sex-related crimes.

If sex offenders have to be let out instead of being putdown like old yeller. They should all be branded like cattle. But in a very visible place like the Forhead.

One year for every day he didn't register - that is only fair, since that is what the other offeneder received. Including the time he is in jail - he could have registered BEFORE he was back in jail!

Lock him up in prison and never let him out. He doesn't deserve to ever walk the streets again.
