SHERMAN -- Police in Sherman are investigating if two burglaries that happened Monday night are related. Both businesses on Sam Rayburn, English Color and Able Aleman Roofing, are just yards from each other.

The companies found pad locks on their property cut and property stolen the following morning.

The manager at English Color says he found a storage unit open and three paint guns missing.

Lane Aleman says the lock on the fence surrounding his roofing company was also cut when he arrived at work Tuesday morning.

"The guys noticed when they got here the locks had been cut. We looked around and saw they took batteries, nail guns, and some other supplies."

Aleman says this isn't the first time his business has been burglarized. A $25,000 trailer was taken from the property a year ago.

Yeah, lets talk about an on-going sting investigation for a little bit. That takes what you call "manpower" to do. When it takes the police a long time to get there its not because the time was convieniant. It is because they a short on "manpower". Until we get more police officers in this city be ready to wait.

It's a lot easier for criminals with a skeleton police department. Maybe Sherman citizens should push the mayor, city manager and council members to hurry up with those raises and benefits so good officers stay in Sherman. And if you have to wait until they finish working an accident or stopping a criminal act to come take your report, then that's what you do. As far as "rise" in the last decade, yes there must be a rise in events and it is probably pretty close in relation to the rise in population. I bet Sherman is set-up like our town. Officers take the information and detectives do the rest.

Theft and burglary is on the rise over the past decade, regardless of what law enforcement tries to feed us. Crackheads gotta feed their habit somehow. Most people just don't bother to report it anymore. Nothing gets done. The police will "take a report" if you can meet them at a time that is convienient for them. On the other hand, it's not likely that they can really find the thieves anyway, unless they want to set up an ongoing sting operation at the pawn shops and scrap yards.
