DURANT, Okla. -- Three men are in jail after Durant police say they beat another man -- who wasn't their intended target.

Dustin Singleton, 23, Jacob Chamberlain, 22, and Jearrod Choate, 19, are all being charged with first degree burglary because they entered a home without being granted access.

The alleged incident happened Sunday morning at the Woodmanor Apartments in Durant. Authorities say the men were looking for someone who attacked their cousin last year.

Police say when David Bilyeu, 22, answered his door. The three men entered the home and then beat Bilyeu.

"It’s always better to try and go through the authorities and file the report. If they thought this was the individual, they should have contacted us and ask if there’s a warrant out for him," said Lt. Johnny Rutherford of the Durant Police Department.

Bilyeu suffered minor injuries.
