A suspicious package caused DPS troopers to shut down a portion of I-35 near Valley View on Wednesday night.

Troopers say they shut down the road around 6:30 p.m.

They say a Cooke County trooper reported a 6 inch by 6 inch package under the bridge at mile marker 486.

The package reportedly had wires and duct tape sticking out of it, and DPS officials say it "looked like a bomb".

The Denton Bomb Squad was called to the scene and detonated the package, no word on what was inside.

I-35 was reopened to traffic about an hour later.
