DURANT OK--Classrooms are often a reflection of the students who learn there, and considering this generation of students has never known a world without the instant access of the internet or the speed of computers, Teachers and administrators are looking for new tools to keep up with tech savvy students.

The days of the text book could be coming to an end.

"Some projections are that books will be on disk in a few years," said Colbert Schools Superintendent Jarvis Dobbs.

At the education technology fair at S-O-S-U today, the classroom of the future was on display. Not only is technology changing how kids learn it's also changing where and when they learn.

"It is any time any where learning, where ever students and teachers have access to the internet they have access to the curriculum ," said Chris Niemeyer of Learning.com

The fair highlighted smart boards, internet based software, and even instant grading systems and teachers say the new technology is helping kids learn more in less time.

"Kids today, technology is their life and it has made a world of difference," said teacher Mindy Davis.

The trick for teachers is keeping up with a generation of students raised on the internet.
But all of the bells and whistles are there to help in teaching not to replace the teacher.

"It is not just putting a kid on a computer and let them go it on their own, you are still teaching, you are still interacting it is just more of a joint effort," said Davis.

For administrators the new tools are now another thing to balance when dealing with a budget.

"You just have to weigh costs with what the product is and you get some money for technology and you spend it wisely," said Dobbs.
