Mazzant Named to Texas Appeals Court

(Austin-AP) -- Governor Rick Perry has named Amos Mazzant of
Sherman to the Fifth District Court of Appeals. The state appeals court covers Collin, Dallas, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Rockwall and Van Zandt counties.

Mazzant is an attorney with Wolfe, Tidwell and McCoy. He graduated magna cum laude from University of Pittsburgh and received a law degree from Baylor.

Mazzant was appointed to a term that will run until the next general election, when he can opt to run for a full term.

Mazzant ran for the Republican nomination for 15th District Judge in Grayson County in the March primary, but lost by less than 100 votes.
