Tragic End to Search for Missing Woman

7-18-04- A tragic end to the search for a missing Johnston County woman. Police found the body of 26 year old Kasey Bennett Saturday night inside her car. The vehicle was flipped over in a ravine off of Highway 199 in Carter County.

Bennett's body was discovered just after 9 p.m. Saturday night by some children playing near the creekbed. They called police. The tags on the car matched the missing persons description on Bennett's vehicle out of Johnston County.

Her mother says Bennett was at a friend's birthday party Thursday night and was also seen at the Starz Club in Ardmore early Friday morning. She worked at the Elmbrook Nursing Home in Ardmore and did not show up to work Friday morning, which alerted co-workers and family.

Bennett was married with two small children. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
