7-22-04 - As the 51st anniversary of the Korean armistice nears, a Denison man is preparing to make a special presentation in Washington D.C. One year ago, Korean War veteran Charlie Brown was chosen to represent veterans in Korea, for the presentation of the Freedom plaque, which has been in his home ever since.

But this weekend, Brown will present the plaque to dignitaries in the nation’s capitol. The plaque will then become part of the Korean War museum inside the Pentagon.

Brown served as an infantryman in Korea during the early 1950’s and still keeps in touch with his fellow veterans today. He takes his role this weekend in a humble way though, still having no idea why he was singled out for last year’s honor in Korea.
